Impacts, benefits
Description of environmental benefits
The NBS is in the centre of Bydgoszcz and by the river Brda and is surrounded by green areas, which allows for recreation and relaxation. The greenery of the rooftop harmonizes with the surroundings and creates additional space to biodiversity in the form of small plants and shrubs. The structure and vegetation of green roofs retain 40 - 99% of rainfall annually and releases it (by evaporation) into the atmosphere. Carefully selected plants catch small air pollution particles [1,3].
Description of economic benefits
The NBS is a part of a commercial revitalization of a heritage site. The developer transformed old buildings into luxurious loft apartments [1].
