As part of the Bydgoszcz Participatory Budget, hundreds of shrubs and about 70 trees were planted around the so-called lake “Balaton”. They include: 35 small-leaved lindens, silver birch, Swedish rowan, Manchurian willow and a weeping willow [3].

Based on the project description and other types of NBS in the city I don't think it is an innovation. I could also not find any reference to the novelty of the project in the sources used. (Updated in 2017)
