Impacts, benefits
Description of environmental benefits
The area of over 3 hectares on the hillside was further fortified to prevent landslides. The mayor of the city says: “We have set up comfortable benches, eco-education boards, feeders for birds and litter bins. We have installed additional nesting boxes for birds and bats on the trees, we have also established the so-called hotels for insects.”
Gardeners took care of the existing greenery, but also supplemented it with 681 new trees and shrubs with rhododendrons and clematis among others. Professionals did not have to interfere with nature and infrastructure too much - it was only necessary to pour a new spirit into the old trees. Four trees are the so-called monuments of nature: ginkgo, linden, elm and willow [3,4].
