Short description of the intervention
The municipal agency Gardens and Parks collaborated with the hospital "St. Panteleymon" in Plovdiv in order to restore the condition of their rehabilitation park in the yard. This involved planting 550 trees, cleaning and securing the area, and removing or modifying problematic trees. The park has thus become a more hospitable place for rehabilitation of patients (Ref. 1; Ref. 2).

Description of environmental benefits
Green space and habitat:
-Increased green space area: the planting of 550 trees, of which 450 coniferous - 250 thuja and 200 cypress, and 100 deciduous (Ref. 2). Problematic trees have been secured or removed (Ref. 1; Ref. 2).
-Restoration of derelict areas: "The 30 decares of green areas had for years turned into a dilapidated yard, where homeless animals were walking, all kinds of garbage were thrown away, who was cooking and parking their car, parts of it were even "taken over" by citizens for planting tomatoes and peppers, said Assoc. Prof. Nedev. The terrain has now been cleared, sanitary felling has been carried out, self-growth has been removed, some of which threatened to push the fence, the crowns of the trees have been raised, linden trees have been planted in front of the main entrance, said Stoyan Alexiev, director of Gardens and Parks" (Ref. 2).

A contact person from Gardens and Parks said that they did not have more information about the intervention. They also said that the hospital were very unlikely to have any documentation about the intervention because it was not a formal project with official project plans and so on.
