Short description of the intervention
The area around Selma Lagerlöf’s square is one of the city's main development areas. The Park and the Parks and Landscape Administration is responsible for creating a new park in the area. It will be like a hub for meetings, greenery, relaxation and activities in the new Selma city. Together with the square area, it aims to become the basis for the common social life in the district. The park will attract visitors of different ages and with different interests and be an attraction for all of Göteborg. The project is currently ongoing and is expected to get completed in 2023. A playground was set up in 2015 and between 2015 and 2016 a project contest was organized for the design of the park in Selma city. (Ref. 2, 3)

Implementation activities
The park is partly established today and forms a central axis in the area in the north-south direction. Also, a playground was set up in 2015 and between 2015 and 2016 a project contest was organized on the design of the park in Selma city. The whole district is perceived as green and Selma's park is the main area of the green structure. Green vegetation is a clear foundation in the park and is of high quality. Greenery is varied in density, detailing and structure, which reinforces the different qualities of the park spaces and creates different zones. (Ref. 2, 3)

The part of the park covered by the next detailed plan, it is budgeted for 2 million EUR (20 million SEK). The budget includes both the design and implementation of the competition for the design of the park. (Ref. 3) The cost of rebuilding the park will be divided between the Property Board and the Park and Nature administration.
