Short description of the intervention
The didactic park Salvatore Buglione links its agricultural tradition and presence of plants and trees with social and cultural innovation (namely a playground for kids, a didactical botanical garden and an organized reading lab). A specialized lab aims at promoting civic and eco-functions, in line with the overall project of the city of Naples to allocate 2 million euros to regenerate the green areas of the city. The project “Orti Sociali” of the park represents an attempt to reach social inclusion and environmental awareness, underlying the crucial function of public parks in terms of environmental and social services (Ref.1.)

Additional insights
Insights 2020: The project is in connection to the memory of Salvatore Buglione, a civil service employee, who in 2006 was killed by 4 young people on the streets of Napoli. The murder itself shocked but also stir up the public opinion, especially young people tired of having to live in a city where those who rebelled against abuses were killed without mercy: Salvatore became the symbol of those who choose to raise their heads, to fight for what little they manage to earn honestly and defend it to the end . In the investigation that followed, the four young criminals were imprisoned (https://www.vesuviolive.it/vesuvio-e-dintorni/notizie-di-napoli/161950-4-settembre-2006-moriva-salvatore-buglione-napoletano-si-ribello-al-crimine/)
I would also like to add that the project itself aimed more for a social role than an environmental one.
