Regeneration San Berillo neighbourhood

The project aims at realizing a large urban park to link the city and the sea coast. It is a project of significant social value, as it takes place in a neighbourhood which has been in a state of decay for 50 years. The intervention includes new facilities for recreation and sport, but first of all new plantations and the creation of rooftop gardens. It would be the second-largest park of the city, by linking the city and the sea. (Ref.1.)

Revitalization of the square at the Zielona Street

Based on a neighbourhood survey the results pointed to a lack of green recreational spaces, in 2015 the citizens initiated a project to develop a new green square at the Zielona Street 19 in Gdynia. The project was implemented in 2018 and it aimed at improving the aesthetics of the district and provide green leisure space for the community. Renovation Of The Chalampé Square In Neudorf

Preserved from urbanization, the square of Chalampé is a bubble of greenery in the heart of old Neudorf. The square had become aged, under-equipped and surrounded by a thin vegetated strip (Ref. 1). The project aims to revitalize Chalampé Square by removing invasive species, replanting vegetation that will remove the shady character of the square and by recreating the plant lines that line the square (Ref. 2).

Dabie Park - green place for relaxation

In 2016, the project facilitated the revitalization and development of green areas in Dąbie (by an urban part of the Vistula River) to create the Dąbie Park. The park had been a neglected vacant green space with randomly scattered former playground facilities. The initiative involved greenery management and creation (bushes, trees, flower meadows), building new sports facilities (running/cycling paths, a basketball field), new infrastructural solutions (new water drainage system, a viewpoint) and creating a safe and modern space for children in a playground surrounded by large trees which provide shadow. The modernization and revitalization of the park infrastructure and local greenery have made the green riverbank area accessible to the public [1,4,5].

Parkbogen Ost - Green belt project

When the national German railway company shut down parts of the former East station of Leipzig and its tracks in 2012, citizens developed an idea for its secondary use and came up with the concept of the "Parkbogen Ost" which represents a 5-kilometre long circle of bicycle lanes, footpaths and outdoor space surrounding the East of Leipzig. The city of Leipzig recognized its potential to connect the Eastern Leipzig with the city centre and developed the strategy further by issuing a "Masterplan Parkbogen Ost" as the base for a step-wise implementation of the project in 2013 (Ref. 5).

The water garden at Haute Deule River Banks

The development of the sustainable district of the Haute Deûle River Banks, associated to Euratechnologies TIC center, leans on recognition of water as an element of its foundation. The current innovation is about the water garden. It is a part of the bigger project, building an eco-district on the banks of the Haute Deule river. The water garden, which plays the role of storage (stormwater) and of phytoremediator, evolves with the rhythm of rain and becomes the emblematic place for this work with water. Its vegetation improves every year and the natural seeds of young willow trees contribute to the establishment of a dynamic ecosystem (Ref 1).

Reconstruction of park Raycho Kirkov

The park was completely renovated by planting trees, shrubs, flowers, and by renovating existing grey elements and adding new ones. The project was implemented as part of the programme for Improvement of the Ecological and Recreational environment of Plovdiv, which was funded by the ERDF through the national Operational Programme “Regional Development” 2007-2013 (Ref. 1; Ref. 2; Ref. 3; Ref. 6).

University Park Essen

The ‘University Park Essen’ is developed on a former railway site in the inner city of Essen, that had been a wasteland for almost 30 years. By revitalizing this about the 13-hectare large plot, an urban green quarter for residential and commercial use is created. The centricity of the park within the new quarter between the city center, shopping mall Limbecker Square and the university campus is the first visible component of the development and therefore shapes the new identity of the quarter (Ref. 4).

Afforestation of the yard of hospital "St. Panteleymon"

The park has thus become a more hospitable place for rehabilitation of patients (Ref. 1; Ref. 2).
